  • We reached out to Jane after our introverted terrier growled at our 9 month old baby. Jane has a really wise, kind manner. It's clear that she respects and enjoys dogs (and babies). First we spoke with her on the phone for about 30 minutes--she introduced us to how she works and told us some basics about how to keep things between dogs and babies copacetic. We then scheduled an in-person consultation with her. She came to our house and watched the baby and the dogs interact and gave us some really valuable information about how to structure their interactions to avoid stressing out our dogs or our baby. She is also one of the very few people who our terrier didn't bark at! Practical advice, warm interaction--would highly recommend her to anyone who has a tricky dog or is thinking about how to introduce a new family member to their dogs. Honestly, I wish we had engaged her before our baby was born--we definitely were doing somethings that weren't recommended, but now we're on a better path.

  • We found Jane’s website online after an event that occurred with our dog Zoey and a small child over the holidays. We had a 6 month old and were very nervous to keep Zoey. We had a consultation with a vet behaviorist who implemented new meds for Zoey and we started working with Jane right away. Jane is the most thorough dog trainer I’ve worked with, she’s quick to respond and even updated our vet after every time we met. The vet behaviorist was very impressed with Jane’s work. She’s extremely detail oriented and will spend hours talking with you about changes you can implement in your home to make it a safe environment for dog and baby. Jane has helped us tremendously to recognize when Zoey is uncomfortable and she has given us tools to redirect her. Overall, we have a happier dog and a safer home. I am very grateful for Jane.

  • My wife and I were worried about our dog’s behavior with our 7mo old son. My dog is my best friend so I was desperate for guidance from a source with extensive experience with kids and dogs (not just a dog trainer that knows dog behavior)... Thankfully, we found Jane. This is her specialty - and she is an expert.
Jane gave us very practical advice, and most importantly helped to educate us about our dog's behavior and what it meant. Jane is calm and present. She's an excellent listener and had succinct, specific answers to all of our questions. Our son and our dog are doing great - not 1 growl since the training began. I'm confident that as long as we follow Jane’s advice, my son and my dog will coexist in peace and harmony. Please call Jane if you are having a similar problem - she can help. Thanks Jane!"

  • We are expecting our first baby, and we have two very energetic and anxious dogs who we have been concerned about in welcoming a new baby. Jane helped us create more structure and boundaries for the dogs ahead of the baby. Our friends have already noticed a big difference in our dogs’ behavior and hyperactivity. I feel much calmer being home with them and walking them around our neighborhood. Jane is patient, has great evidence-based resources to share, and clearly understands dog and child psychology. I highly recommend working with her!

  • I highly recommend Jane to your family. With two young children we were already a busy house when we welcomed our sweet lab puppy into our house. We should have worked with him more, but we had our hands full! Now three years later we also have a new baby, and the lack of training was becoming a problem. I called Jane and she has been wonderful! She takes a patient and non-judgmental approach with the parents, and a positive reinforcement approach with the dog. I particularly appreciate that Jane works with us at a pace we can handle. Jane truly gets it!

  • We feel very lucky to have found Jane to help with our dog, who has various behavior issues, including anxiety. Our toddler can add to the anxiety, so we wanted a trainer who really understood child development and would specifically help with that relationship. Jane has an incredible depth of knowledge about dogs, and also understands kids. She has been very patient with us, as well. We highly recommend her!

  • I was just devastated when our new little dog, when introduced to our grand-baby, spent the whole time barking and even growling. Fortunately we found Jane. She's wise, calm, and patient. And so good with our dog, who immediately fell in lover with her. In her first visit Jane gave us such useful advice and training procedures that we signed up for several more classes. That was such a good decision! Our dog is now quiet and relaxed when we see the grand-baby. Plus Jane gave us practical and effective advice on several fronts, from our dog's nightly "accidents" to crate training. I highly recommend Jane. We feel very fortunate to have her as our doggy grand-baby guide.

  • Jane is so knowledgeable, patient and great with dogs! She provides clear guidance, resources and step by step instructions that will train your dog and you so you can work better with your dog. I thought my recently adopted 7-year old rescue pup would never learn basics like sit and down and, most importantly, how to be calm around new dogs given that she came to me with no skills in these areas, and that she reacted to new dogs by charging at them and screeching. Jane helped me learn to guide my pup in much more constructive ways, to calm myself (which my pup felt), and to teach my sweet but not-well-trained pup to learn all kinds of new tricks -- my pup now happily sits and lies down when asked, and remarkably we can now walk by even barking dogs and I, and my pup, know how to handle it effectively and smoothly. I am so grateful to Jane for all her help!

  • Jane came highly recommended and is a calm, gifted trainer even if, like us, you don't have young children in the house. The two areas my husband and I have worked on with Jane's help is getting our 18 month old golden doodle to come when called (he was never good at it) and calmly greeting visitors (rather than exuberantly jumping up). Jane's techniques and explanations really work. She really understands dogs, and dog owners, and is a pleasure to work with.

  • My family has been working with Jane for a couple months now and highly recommend her. We have a fifteen-month-old baby and feisty little dog who are still trying to learn how to coexist in peace. We had an initial meeting with Jane, who gave us suggestions both on management (E.g. creating separate spaces for dog and baby) as well as training (For our dog. Unfortunately, the baby is untrainable for the time being). We were so impressed by Jane that we decided to enroll in a long-term program of training lessons for our dog. She now comes to our house twice weekly and works with him - and us - to teach behaviors that have already made our house much safer and more harmonious. We look forward to seeing further progress in the weeks to come.

  • Jane is wonderful! We were in desperate need of a trainer for our very energetic, jumpy, mouthy 70lb pup when our new baby arrived to avoid catastrophe. Jane responded quickly to my contact and came and did a thorough assessment of our pup. We now work together on a weekly basis to appropriately channel our pups energy and teach him new skills. It is incredible to watch the results that Jane is able to get! It was very important to me to find a trainer that focuses on positive reinforcement techniques and I'm so glad to have found Jane!

  • We had our second in home training with Jane of Canine Kid Connection and she is wonderful. I cannot recommend her enough. She is helping us teach our two year old Cattledog mix self control and preparing us for bringing a baby into our home. She is incredibly patient and professional. Very pleased

  • We adopted a little poodle/terrier mix a few months ago and I was worried about the dog's interactions with my son, as well as various behavior issues. Jane came over and did a great job helping me understand what's going on with the dog, provided some really helpful strategies for managing the dog/kid interactions, and also got me started on some basic training (sit, stay, etc.). She was very helpful, warm, and pleasant to work with. Highly recommend her!

  • Jane was extremely helpful with our 10 year old miniature pinscher mix and 2 year old daughter. We highly recommend her! Jane walked us through different management and training techniques to create a safe environment for our high energy daughter and high energy/high anxiety dog. Not only did she make a house call, she followed up with an email that listed all of the techniques and strategies we had discussed. I found that to be incredibly helpful to remember everything she went over and review it every now and again. She even called up a few weeks after to check in and see if we had any questions. Five stars for sure!

  • We were fortunate to find Jane when we adopted a two year old mutt from Coppers Dream. I would get nervous when Vida was around my two kids, ages 4 and 7. I called Jane and told her my concerns. She listened attentively and came over the very next evening to start working with our dog and with our entire family. My husband and I are thrilled about Jane's training philosophy which incorporates the entire family. Jane is very knowledgeable about dog behavior and she understands the dog/family dynamic. We couldn't be happier with our dear dog and Jane is a big part of this. I recommend Jane and The Canine-Kid Connection wholeheartedly.

  • We adopted a rescue dog who had a few issues including separation anxiety and nipping. As first time dog owners, we needed some help dealing with our newest addition and so we called Jane. Jane is a wealth of information and really helped us understand what was happening with our dog. She understands how dogs communicate and she knows what they need. She helped us provide the necessary leadership that our dog needed to stop the unwanted behaviors. Throughout the process, Jane was very supportive and readily available. She acted as a coach working with us in person, over the phone, and through email. One night, she even dropped off a book for us to read to help us understand our dog's actions. I would highly recommend Jane for any dog owner who is struggling with their dog's behaviors. Jane is experienced, knowledgeable and invested in helping your dog become part of the family.

  • My partner and I recently had a baby, and we faced a very difficult challenge introducing her to our dog, a 5 year old shepard- or pit-mix rescue. Our dog was a very rambunctious, and at times her rambunctiousness verged on aggression, and of course, this kind of energy was very worrying for us when we brought home our baby from the hospital. We asked if Jane would help us understand the nature of challenge we faced in facilitating a peaceful (and enjoyable) co-existence with our dog. We weren't sure that we could meet the challenge and wondered if we should attempt to re-home our dog, but we wanted first to understand better what the challenge consisted of--what would be required to keep the baby safe, our dog contained, and a reasonable peace in our household. Jane was extremely helpful and professional: she called us back quickly, asked important questions, spoke in a very thoughtful way, and seemed totally un-judgmental about the problems and decisions we faced. She also gave us some concrete training tools to contain our dog's aggressive style, while we were considering our options. These tools were impressively effective, and they helped us tremendously. Jane's ready and proactive follow-up with us by phone reflected a calm conscientiousness that underscored her professionalism. She really helped us make a difficult decision. We feel incredibly lucky to have found her.

  • After years of struggling with our smart and lovable but often pushy and excitable border collie/aussie mix, I was lucky to find Jane. She worked with the entire family to identify and develop workable solutions to several "management" issues including dealing with over excitement, herding and barking. By implementing Jane's techniques we noticed positive behavioral changes right away, particularly regarding interaction with our children. I recommend Jane at Canine-Kid connection without hesitation.
