Meet Jane

Dog Trainer Jane

I’ve always loved helping people, and my first career was as a registered psychiatric nurse working with families. I learned about family dynamics, how to promote healthy, supportive family relationships and positive parenting. I often acted to protect children who were at risk in dysfunctional families.

When my client families included dogs, parents often told me about problems between the dog and their young children and asked me if their dogs’ behavior posed a risk to their kids.

As a nurse, I wasn’t able to help with clients’ dogs, but I knew those families needed guidance and support with that special area of parenting, so eventually I made a big decision and decided to become a dog trainer!

I enrolled in the San Francisco SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers, and as I studied, I learned about dogs and why they react as they do, and I understood more and more why problems can occur between dogs and young children. After graduating, I began my new life as a trainer for families with dogs and young children.

For over 25 years now I’ve offered education and support for people with dogs and children, and I now specialize in helping families with new babies and toddlers. If you have questions or concerns about your dog around your baby, I can help!

I love seeing my clients become relaxed and happy, knowing that their dog and baby home is calm and safe.

"My wife and I were worried about our dog’s behavior with our 7mo old son.  My dog is my best friend so I was desperate for guidance from a source with extensive experience with kids and dogs (not just a dog trainer that knows dog behavior). Thankfully, we found Jane. This is her specialty - and she is an expert."
